While the Napanee Generating Station will be an essential component of Ontario’s future power system, it will also be a catalyst for economic development in the Greater Napanee area. Construction will create jobs and along with the purchase of goods and services will mean approximately 26% or $308 million will be spent in the Napanee, Kinston and Bellville area.
Permanent employment will create a further 24 long-term jobs, resulting in approximately $4 million in annual salaries, while annual spending is expected to contribute another $8.4 million to the local economy. NGS will contribute approximately $1 million annually in local taxes.
TransCanada is committed to facilitating opportunities for residents of the Greater Napanee area for employment, contracting and supplier opportunities created by the development, construction, operation and maintenance of the NGS.
The construction trades positions will be hired as required by TransCanada’s General Contractor through local union halls. In addition to these positions, TransCanada and its General Contractor will be offering a limited number of Management Site positions as outlined below. These positions will be advertised as they become available.
